A vulnerability alert is useful only when you know whether it affects your systems. This weekend: two new CISA catalog entries, a free learning opportunity, and a five-field inventory that makes Monday easier.
Threat watch: remote support and network management
CISA’s October 16 Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog added CVE-2026-102764, an authentication-bypass vulnerability in BeyondTrust Remote Support that can permit remote file operations. It also added CVE-2025-61624, a path-traversal flaw affecting FortiOS, FortiPAM, FortiProxy and FortiSwitchManager; exploitation requires an authenticated administrator with at least read-write permissions.
Your next step: identify affected installations and versions, then follow vendor mitigation and applicable forensic-triage instructions. These are newly cataloged entries, not a claim that both flaws were discovered yesterday. CISA lists ransomware use as unknown for both. CISA catalog · BeyondTrust advisory · Fortinet advisory.

Opportunity desk: verification first
SAM.gov: today’s search surfaced a notice, but its official detail page did not expose enough information to verify an open IT solicitation and complete deadline. Virginia eVA: the public opportunities endpoint returned an access error. No solicitation is represented as verified open in this edition. This does not mean there are no opportunities. Check SAM.gov and Virginia eVA Business Opportunities for current notices, amendments and submission instructions.
One-minute IT lesson: five fields that beat guesswork
For each business application, record its name, version, responsible owner, where it runs, and update source in your private asset inventory. When an alert arrives, compare the product and affected version before planning a change. After an approved update, verify the installed version and normal operation. Keep passwords and customer information out of the inventory.
